2 Korean women’s response to my inquiry regarding North Korea:

“I don’t care [about social, economic, or politial issues].  There are enough problems in the marriage and things at home, all we want to think about is happy things.  Like fashion, shopping, and money.”

I came to this blog by accident, but I found very interesting. Greetings to all who visit here.

hi, I found your blog on expat-blogs and enjoyed your writing. I’m planning to return to SK in September (I ESLed from 07-08 before returning state-side for a bit) and thought it’d be cool to check out others who were there at the moment. Feel free to check out my blog (it began in SK, but I’ve maintained it) as well. Happy travels! Love the pictures.

HA ha ha! I had a similar experience in my class the other day. I was teaching three teenage boys, one named Rick, one called Soy Bean, and the other had named himself Lady Gaga. Rick asked me if I liked CNN, I said sure, do you? He said “I wery wery much hates CNN, they LIE!” I said under my breath ” Hmm… you know we say the same thing about a state run news agency such as yours.” Before we could get any farther in conversation my Chinese assistant chimes in and says… “It is the government’s right to censor the media, but let’s not talk about this anymore, let’s talk about something interesting; like food or fashion.”

Cheers to Asia!

By the way Brittany I have spent the last half hour devouring your blog, you’re such a wonderful story teller, I had no idea!
